A R E
For assertion women should be empowered because they might use money for more important reasons instead of the wrong reasons. Women will for example will send money to haiti instead of using that money for things they don't need.
ARE - Mr. Duffy
Assertion: Women should be empowered politically and economically as a way to drive nations out of our global recession.
Reasoning: Economically empowered women do more to help their nations improve long term than men.
Evidence: Female economic power also enhances the "wealth and well-being of nations." Women who control their own income tend to have fewer children, and fertility rates have shown to be inversely related to national income growth. Women are also more able - and generally more willing than male counterparts - to send daughters as well as sons to school, even when they earn less than men. In turn, a woman's level of education affects her decision-making process when it comes to questions about contraception, age of marriage, fertility, child mortality, modern sector employment and earnings.
The real tragedy is that women are often better economic stewards of capital than men. Research has shown that women are more likely to reinvest profits back into human capital than are men. When women have economic power - defined as control of income and capital (land, livestock, etc.)-they gain more equality and control over their own lives, while contributing directly to their children's development (nutrition, health and education) and thereby indirectly to their nation's income growth.

A:Women should be allowed to work in the economic world.
--Seeking input from their employees
--Listening to their accountants, chief operating officers, chief financial officers and financial advisors
--Valuing the range of business information available to them from sources such as the Internet and professional associations
Finally, women are taking a longer-term view of their businesses, with a greater focus on:
R:Women take more reponsibilities in the home and consider other people so they would most likely consider other people in the work world.
E:Evidence 1:Women more often than not have to handle domestic responsibilities as well as professional responsibilities, but they accomplish both tasks with aplomb. They are more adept at multi tasking and can juggle various responsibilities at a time. It is this quality which enables women to perform consistently well at the workplace. Evidence 2:In addition, female small-business owners are more open to taking advice and deriving valuable information from others. They are more open to:
--Seeking input from their employees
--Listening to their accountants, chief operating officers, chief financial officers and financial advisors
--Valuing the range of business information available to them from sources such as the Internet and professional associations
Finally, women are taking a longer-term view of their businesses, with a greater focus on:
--Having a succession plan in place
--Planning for retirement
--Having something to sell at retirement
--Planning for retirement
--Having something to sell at retirement
Women and Economies!!!!!
A: Women should be empowered in our economies and buisnesses.
R: Women can handle just as many responsibilities as men can-they have practice!!
E: *Women are used to stress. The reason women might be better at handling the stress that comes with the recession better than men is two-fold. First, many women, regardless of industry, work in "boys' club"-type environments. They are used to dealing with the added stress that comes with feeling like they have to constantly be working at a higher level than the men at their organizations. Secondly, women are used to multi-tasking. They know that their success is measured by others based on how well they juggle their work and home lives.
*“Women no longer need to choose between a beautiful career and a beautiful life,” she said.If that’s not enough to chew on, Bos added, by 2010 women will control more than half of the private wealth in the U.S., or about $14 trillion. By 2020 that number is expected to rise to $22 trillion. Why? Women typically inherit twice, once from their spouses and then from their parents.
A.R.E
If we empower women, they can use their money to help the needy throughout world . Men are greedy and only care about money whereas women are able to consider multiple sides of a situation, so women are more likely to make good decisions for society rather than themselves. Many women are so grateful to be offered a job that they accept what they are offered and don’t negotiate their salaries.
ASSERTION:
Women should be empowered economically, and politically.
Reasoning:
Women can handle more responsibility then men can handle a single job.
Evidence:
About 50% of married women who are divorced can handle a job, raising kids, and even chores around the house.
Women may even take up more then one job just to help feed or clothe their children.

ARE
Women can multi-task. Which means that they can perform multiple activities at once. This is a major benefit. For example, you are working in the fashion industry. Your boss asks you to make copies of a design, get him some coffee, and bring back samples of different materials. Another example is:
30 year old Tabatha says:
"I cant speak for everyone but my husband can only listen to 1 thing at a time. I can listen to someone on the phone and listen to what someone is saying to me to tell the other person on the phone. I can hear both and can always repeat it if someone asks. This drives my husband up the wall then cause when I do that he says what did I say then? I can tell him and when he is listening to some1 else and listening to me he says soz I can only hear 1 thing at once. My husband cant even listen to the tv and have a conversation at the same time which I think is weird. He has to have 1 or the other. I can easily talk, listen and watch tv."
Studies show that about 50% of woman can multi-task VS. 25% of men. This proves my point.
ARE
Having women in more positions in power would be the best thing to happen to the U.S.A. Women take on more responsibility than men. (Kids for example.) About 65% of women, with kids, are left by themselves to take came for them. This shows that women are the ones who pickup diapers, pay for tuition (if required), buy clothes and make sure the child is in a good and healthy environment. Mean while, the father is probably no where to find. The women would be able to juggle health issues, world issues and money issues which would make the world a better place.
A.R.E
Assertion:
Women are better fit for the government and CEO jobs because they are naturally multi talented and smart.
Reasoning:
Women are compassionate, and smart. They also care for the people around them and they don't react on first instincts, like some men do. Also because some women have kids they know how to compromise and make sure everyone is happy, as well as balance a job and the house, so women are naturally multi talented. Also some women have to deal with their kids, their jobs, their house , and some have to deal with their problems concerning their relationship, or their outside family. So if they can deal with al that and still support their family their is no way they can't handle working in the government or in big businesses. Another reason women are better for the government and CEO jobs, is because they have kids and are so compassionate they look after their kids and make sure there alright before they let them go ahead and do something and they will also do that if they have CEO job, there going to make sure the desicion they make is good before they go ahead with it

Opposing
“Women are not ready [to be top executives].”
“Men choose men [for leadership positions].”
“Women cannot handle the pressure [of leadership coupled] with the private sphere.”
“The rise of ‘female-friendly behaviour’ [i.e., quotas] means concessions to quality.”
“In selecting the really senior executives, the rules are different. And those [rules] are rarely public.”
“Female directors…have negative experiences with other women at the top.”
Gender Agenda
A recent study in Kenya estimates that adolescent pregnancy alone costs the economy US $500 million per year, while investing in girls would potentially add US $3.2 billion to the economy.
Reasons for Empowering Women
Women have better skills to effectively lead and manager large companies. In other words, not only might they be less greedy and thus more likely to share the wealth, and not only might they be less risky, but they are also better at running businesses in general.

Reasons for empowering women
Women take more responsibilities in the home and consider other people that when they go in the buisness world they would most likely consider other people.
Reasons for Empowering Women
Countries where women have more rights are the countries with the better economy.
Reasons for Empowering Women
Women are more likely to use money or empowerment programs effectively to provide for their family, so we should empower women with financial control of their households.
Reason For Empowering Women
Women can see both sides of a situation. Like the war we're having today, women might be able to end it and ACTUALLY create peace with Iraq.
REASON FOR EMPOWERING WOMEN
Women are actually smarter and better at making decisions. The will be more active and more careful with what they do and the decisions they make. Women should have more power because they are naturally smarter and sharper then men. They are more open minded then men and will actually think before they do something.
Reason For Empowering women
Women are smart and self efficient. We should empower women because one men caused the problem and two women are caring and if they are empowered they will make changes that would benefit the people.
Reason for Empowering Women
Women are more likely to use their education oppurtunties better then men
Reason for Empowering Women
Women should be included in the economy because women are more open-minded and have more experience in different occupations. Men are close minded and only know how to perform the occupation that they are given.
Reasons For Empowering Women
Women are more likely to use money opportunities and empowerment programs more effectively than men
Reasons For Empowering Women
Men are greedy and only care about money whereas women are able to consider multiple sides of a situation, so women are more likely to make good decisions for society rather than themselves
Reason for Empowering Women
Women should be empowered because men created the political and economic policies that led to the financial meltdown and caused our problems, so women should be given a chance to get us out.
The R in ARE (Reasoning)
The Reasoning and Evidence are the critical components of the debate. The team with better evidence and reasoning will most likely win. In the post from several days ago, I gave one example of Reasoning:
Men created the problem, so men should not be trusted to solve the problem.
There are plenty of other reasons why women should be empowered. We discussed a number of them in class last week. In A SEPARATE POST, write at least one REASON why women should be empowered as a way to get us out of the global depression we are in (you can use one of the examples we wrote down in class, or something you have thought of on your own).
Title the post: "Reason for empowering Women."
Then, after you have Posted a REASON, look at the reasons your colleagues posted. Pick one of the reasons, and respond with a COMMENT by providing a piece of EVIDENCE to support that reason.

The A in ARE (Assertion)
The Assertion for the affirmative team will always be: Women should be empowered economically.

Argument #1 for the Affirmative
Resolved: Empowering women is the best way to help the global economy recover from our current economic crisis.
This is the affirmative argument in our upcoming debate. There are many reasons to believe that this is true. In comments to this post, please write out supporting points in the ARE format (Argument, Reasoning, Evidence).
Example:
Argument:
Women Should Be Empowered because Men Created this Crisis.
Reasoning:
You would not put a criminal in charge of a jail; you do not ask the coach of the last place team to coach in the Super Bowl; you don't ask students with F's to teach the class. Why, then, would we ask men, who created our current economic crisis, to solve the problem?
Evidence:
Men are in charge of the vast majority of countries. Men are in charge of the vast majority of major corporations. Men are in charge in the majority of households. Our governments, our corporations, and our household decisions over the past few decades led us into our current economic crisis. Why should we trust men to get us out of the problem, when they are the leaders who got us into the problem in the first place?
Consider the other arguments we discussed in class, and attempt to write your own ARE for several of them.
