Reasons for empowering women

Women take more  responsibilities in the home and consider other people that when they go in the buisness world they would most likely consider other people.

  1. Women more often than not have to handle domestic responsibilities as well as professional responsibilities, but they accomplish both tasks with aplomb. They are more adept at multi tasking and can juggle various responsibilities at a time. It is this quality which enables women to perform consistently well at the workplace.

  2. In addition, female small-business owners are more open to taking advice and deriving valuable information from others. They are more open to:

    --Seeking input from their employees

--Listening to their accountants, chief operating officers, chief financial officers and financial advisors

--Valuing the range of business information available to them from sources such as the Internet and professional associations

Finally, women are taking a longer-term view of their businesses, with a greater focus on:

--Having a succession plan in place

    --Planning for retirement

--Having something to sell at retirement

  3. Employment figures for married mothers with children under age 6 have dropped 7% to 10% since the peak years of 1997 to 2000, depending on the income group, says Cohen. Overall, the work participation rate for all women dropped 1.5% from 2000 to 2004, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

  4. Adama - This shows that perhaps women do not WANT to participate in the economy any more than they are in the U.S. They have been empowered, but are actually backing out of the economy voluntarily.
